Oak Lodge Review:
"A dear friend and I stayed Easter weekend. Even though we never met staff in person, we felt scrupulously cared for. Host sent thoughtful, timely inbox messages at every turn, anticipating our every need and question. Our host's sincere courtesy and warmth shone through every word. The place itself is like a little slice of heaven on earth! This is Pilgrim Heights Retreat Center, a quiet spiritual retreat in the countryside between Tama and Marshalltown, Iowa. The grounds are lovely, with a sparkling lake and plentiful ancient trees. There is a feeling of wellbeing and peace the moment you arrive. This place is truly loved, and built to give love, and it shows. At the Oak Lodge Cabin, one of several lodging options on the grounds, we found everything as described and then some. The little touches like the pretty jar of hot cocoa in the kitchen cupboard, speak for themselves! Indoors and out, it was immaculately clean. Thank you!!!"

Pilgrim heights Review:
"Upon entering at the gate, well kept facilities set in rolling hills and a beautiful forest. I have attended a craft show, there, and recently had a family get-together. I overnighted in the Birch Room of the Hickory House. It was very comfortable and quiet. The gathering building can accommodate LARGE groups, with a commercial kitchen and lots of room for seating or whatever your gathering needs. The host is very pleasant, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I highly recommend anyone to consider this facility for any event or just a quiet get-away. Also, take advantage of the nature trails for hiking and viewing the beautiful and diverse wildlife, as it is a nature preserve. Another thing to add, there is 24 hour security year round."

Butternut Cabin Review:
"An idyllic retreat from the busyness of life! I would give Butternut cabin more than 5 stars if possible. If you want upscale lodging, this is probably not for you. But if you want stunning views, perfect silence (except for nature sounds) and a comfortable bed in a tiny, rustic, but spotlessly clean cabin, this is the perfect spot!"

Hawthorne Cabin Review:
"My wife and I will absolutely be back! We appreciated the greenery and the peace. My wife is from Sweden, and they felt very nostalgic being there. I would highly recommend this for couples or a family get away. The land and space are very well cared for! You can tell they love and appreciate their land."

Black Oak Cabin Review:
"We enjoyed our time at the tiny house. The simplicity was just what we needed. Despite things not being green yet, it was beautiful to be set up from the lake and to take in the scenery and birds. Great place for our little escape!"

Pilgrim heights Review:
"Pilgrim Heights hosted our weekend retreat and made us feel like honored guests. They have a wonderful location with plenty to do outdoors, and their buildings are in good order. Sometimes these places can feel cramped due to periods of expansion, but Pilgrim Heights has thankfully managed to arrive at a large organizational level without feeling constrained or like the facilities impede the natural beauty of the place."

Grounds review:
"The location is beautiful and peaceful. The woodlands, the park-like grounds around the cabin -- well worth the stay. The cabin is rather rustic and the whole experience is very nostalgic, reminding us of family times in our childhood. When the weather is clear, the star-lit night sky is amazing!"

Four Seasons Review:
"What a great place for our family to connect at, during the holidays. We had a fun time meeting in the large, multi tiered building.
We stayed overnight in the Hickory room....it was a very nice and quiet room that was also ADA accessible and beautifully decorated."

Spruce Tiny Cabin Review:
"I really enjoyed staying at this wonderful cabin right near a large inviting lake amongst the trees and trails - and a cow and a lazy dog or two - serene and contemplative - can’t wait to go back!"
